Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 62 ℉, condition: Dust.
Another soaking rain last night. The creeks are still clear to slightly stained, but all this rain is helping things immensely.Clouds and drizzle make for great fishing after a string of sunny days. This weather should stick around all week.
Water temps are in the 50s and levels are still low for May. Caddis have been hatching as have craneflies. If you see fish jumping out of the water, tie on a tan caddis or cranefly! In the evenings, and with drizzly weather, there have been fish rising to olives and midges too.
Subsurface fishing has been excellent on scuds and cranefly larvae, with pheasant tails a close second.
Leeches, streamers and mice are also catching some nicer fish!
