Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 70 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Fishing remains tough, but still fun!The sun has made fishing a bit more work than usual for this time of year. Instead of the first few drifts, it is taking some extra time on each spot to get fish to eat.
The rocks are plastered with bugs, just waiting to hatch. Olives, black caddis, craneflies, even Hendricksons have been spotted, but not in high enough numbers for good surface action.
The subsurface fishing has been solid on heavily weighted scuds and nymphs twitched and rolled along the bottom.
Leeches also remain very effective.
