Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 57 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Cold this morning, which means have an extra cup of coffee and wait for the temperature to rise and the fog to burn off!The olives yesterday were a ton of fun with some localized heavy hatches and fish rising through most of the day. There may be some hatching today, but the bright sun means it will be a much better terrestrial day starting late this morning.
Hoppers, beetles, ants, and olives on the surface with heavily weighted bead head nymphs (18-20 thin bodied and dark in color) and scuds catching fish sub surface.
With this cold snap, do not be afraid to fish some larger patterns! Jimmy legs, chubby cousins, leeches and streamers have accounted for some large fish recently.
