Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 72 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
The predictions for a milder, wetter summer have been spot on so far.The major storms passed us by again yesterday with less rain falling near the shop than south of us. Streams are clear to stained and flowing very well. Water temps are in the mid 50s to mid 60s.
Terrestrials are working mid day, and we are fishing a hopper and dropper rig throughout most of the day.
In the evenings, there are a few lighter colored mayflies and caddis around, but we have been having most of our success on the surface on midges.
Subsurface fishing is still great on thin bodied patterns, scuds, and leeches in the stained waters.
