Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 79 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
The bright sun will be the limiting factor for fishing today. Find the shade and you will find fish.Waters are clear to stained area wide, with only a couple of streams still murky after recent rains. Water temperatures are in the mid 50s to mid 60s.
There are plenty of bugs on the surface including caddis, craneflies, yellow sallies, and even a few sulphurs. This weekend, when the clouds roll in, we could see olives too.
Subsurface fishing is best on thicker bodied gray patterns, pheasant tail nymphs, and scuds.
We are also into terrestrial time. Fishing ants and beetles (both on the surface and sunken) can be excellent especially mid day.
