Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 40 ℉, condition: Windy.
The early season fishing is stll hanging on. While fishing is good, the water temps have had a tough time getting much over 40 degrees. This means fish podded up in deeper pools and undercuts instead of out in the runs and riffles. The good news is that we are starting to see more insect activity (mayflies and midges) which means things are slowly starting to get really good. A few more warm days and fishing will explode.Streams are flowing clear and a bit low.
Precipitation forecasted over the next few days might put a stain on the water, but should not be enough to blow any streams out completely.
