Driftless Area
Rating: 2, temperature: 28 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Good slow melting yesterday, and the sun today should continue getting rid of bankside snow and ice. The vast majority of our streams are ice free and fishing well. There is still about 2 feet of snow bankside, so be prepared to carefully hike into spots. Snowshoes can help quite a bit.Midges are hatching area wide, and fish are happily eating midges, scuds, and small bead heads subsurface.
Water temps are in the mid 30s to mid 40s. 40 and above are the best temperatures to find active fish. Fish the springs and the headwater creeks as they run warmer this time of season.
Be careful parking as the 'parking lots' are mostly snowed in and you have to park roadside.
