Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 73 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Cooler nights and a high of 70 today again!
Water temps are dropping thanks to a couple of cold nights and mild days.  Keep your thermometer handy though as it is still summer.
  Waters are clear and low.
Tricos were all over yesterday, and fish were feeding sporadically on the surface all day on most streams.
Expect more hatches when the sun is off the water.  Using a small mayfly or midge pattern (18-20) will get most surface fish to eat, the do not seem to be too picky.
Subsurface fishing is great on tiny bead head flies (18-22) as well as scuds.  Leeches have started to pick up some nicer fish too.
