Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 77 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

Very good summer conditions!  Fish rising to midges last night that were very happy to eat small hoppers and beetles too.
Temps have dipped back to normal summer temperatures, and outside of Monday, this entire week is supposed to be excellent with highs in the high 70s and nights dipping into the low to mid 60s.
This translates to cooling waters, and much more comfortable fishing conditions throughout the day!
The sun is still the limiting factor.  Fishing is best early and late, while shady spots have fish feeding all day long.
Terrestrials are still key as we wait for the tricos to show up, with fish eagerly taking ants, beetles, and starting to crush hopper patterns on the surface.
Subsurface, the same ants and beetles fished sunken are working as are small scuds, midge larvae, and other small thin bodied flies.
