Cool night last night, and comfortable temeratures means all day fishing today! The high is only going to hit 80, so as long as you are not fishing in the bright sun, you can catch fish all day.
There have been no major aquatic insect hatches lately, a few straggling caddis and mayflies are around, as are midges in the evening, but for most of the day, the surface activity is on terrestrials. Ants, beetles and hoppers have been working very well, especially when you tie on a bead head dropper below.
Subsurface fly selection has been easy. Pheasant tails, midge larvae, and scuds have been hot with tiny nymphs with a bit of flash working too. Keeping flies deep is important so do not overlook small tungsten flies this time of year.
