Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 84 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
Fishing has been very good lately, especially when the sun is off the water. Fish shade and you will catch more fish!Waters are clear with only one or two exceptions. Water temperature is perfect hovering at an average near 60 degrees.
The fish are not selective in the mornings and will happily eat beetles, ants and midges on the surface. Switching to small hoppers and foam indicator flies in the afternoon with a dropper has been very successful.
Subsurface fishing has been best with patterns with a bit of fuzziness and sparkle to them. Scuds, pink squirrels and flash back hare's ears are topping the list.
In the evening fish will rise again and a small dry twitched and skittered across the riffles will get fish to feed.
