Happy Fourth of July!Looking like another nice day to be fishing. Mornings and evenings are best simply due to the sun shining on the water. If you can find shade, you will catch more fish.
Most streams are clear, with only the larger streams with flood control dams on them showing any stain. Water is cool (mid 50s to low 60s) and flowing a touch high still. These are excellent conditions for July!
Fish are eating ants and beetles on the surface as well as picking up on midges and small caddis twitched below riffles.
Subsurface fishing has been solid on smaller scuds and pink squirrels as well as on midge larvae and tiny, flashy nymphs.
The hopper bite is on, but just starting. Fish are interested in hoppers on the surface, but are not yet quite crushing them.
