Driftless Area
Rating: 2, temperature: 83 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.
Finally, a night and morning without rain! Some streams were clearing last night, and more will continue to drop and clear today. Just plan on putting in some windshield time as many streams are still murky. There were 6-8 inches of rain over the weekend.
In the cloudy water, larger scuds and nymphs, San Juan worms, and leeches are effective.
In the clearing water, orange scuds, prince nymphs, leeches and pheasant tails will work. On the surface, craneflies are still hatching and smaller terrestrials will catch a few fish. Hatches will be off a bit but some lighter colored mayflies and yellow sallies will still be bouncing around.
