Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 78 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
Continuing solid fishing today, especially with the clouds this morning! The sun is the limiting factor as water levels, temps, and clarity are great.
Fish are rising to light colored mayflies, yellow sallies, midges and craneflies in the evenings. Lately, a well drifted ant or beetle will get rising fish to eat, even if they are keyed in on aquatic insects.
Terrestrial season is on us. We have picked up a bunch of fish on smaller terrestrials, as well as on hoppers! A hopper/dropper is great all day long.
Subsurface fishing continues its slow transition from thick bodied patterns (especially in gray) to small and thin bodied bugs.
Leeches, streamers and mice (mousing has been great fun lately) are catching fish at dawn and dusk.
