Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 71 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

Spotty clouds this morning, then more cloud cover moving in this afternoon.  There has been no rain the past couple of days and the streams are clear to stained area wide, except for the largest bodies of water that are stained to murky still.
Fish are eating subsurface on scuds, pink squirrels, prince nymphs and flashy, thin bodied patterns.
On the surface it is still craneflies, caddis (especially on the coulees) and we have started to see some light colored mayflies (sulphur/pmd) the past couple of days.  Don't forget the smaller terrestrials and foam patterns.  Ants and beetles have been great for almost a month now, and we have started to spot a couple crickets and hoppers in the fields.
