Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 63 ℉, condition: Dust.
Rain, rain, rain the past few days. Streams are stained to milky first thing this morning, but will drop and clear quickly. Only a couple waters are unfishable due to the rain. The weather patterns have been odd, with storm fronts moving in and out all day recently, which means that although the fishing conditions on paper are excellent (cloud cover, stained water, cold water etc) the fishing has been good, not excellent. Once we have stable weather things should really pick up.
We are still getting great action on the surface on craneflies, and with the cloudy weather we have started to see some larger mayflies hatching too (March Brown-ish bugs).
Subsurface fishing on scuds has been fantastic, as have thin bodied mayfly nymphs and midge larvae.
Leeches, and streamers have been great, especially on the cloudier streams.
