Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 68 ℉, condition: Dust.
Rain this morning should clear out of the area by noon. It is not enough rain to mess up the streams permanently, but expect a stain and rising water this morning and possibly into the afternoon.Scuds, pink squirrels and san juan worms will be the food of choice in the rising waters.
Into the weekend the cranefly bite will be back on with fish feeding in riffles and runs below the riffles. Splashy rises indicate cranefly or caddisfly feeding fish.
Do not forget to twitch, skitter, and skate your flies, both surface and subsurface. This has been the trigger lately as the fish are responding to movement.
