Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 60 ℉, condition: Flurries.

Things are really starting to click in the Driftless!
We saw significant numbers of craneflies yesterday, as well as tan and black caddis.  A rainy day bonus olive hatch also came off.
Despite light rain all day yesterday, our streams are clear and flowing very well.  Water temps are in the 50s and fish are feeding in both the runs, and the riffles now.
Caddis, craneflies, generic mayflies, and smaller foam flies are working on the surface.
Subsurface cranefly larvae, pheasant tails, and anything gray to brown with a thicker profile (caddis and cranefly larvae) as well as midge larvae and orange soft hackles are doing the trick.
