Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 66 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Fishing has been quite good as we wrap up the early season. (Fishing closes Sunday night at 11:59 p.m. until Saturday May 4th)More black caddis have been spotted, but more importantly more fish are responding to caddis patterns. Pupae and emergers have been excellent lately.
Scuds, squirrels, and standard nymphs (PTs, Hare's Ears, Princes, Zebras) are still going strong. The fish are just plain hungry and the conditions are such that they are feeding well. Make sure you vary your presentation as different groups of fish are looking for different things. Twitched, dead drifted, swung etc.
Waters are clear and flowing well with temps in the 40s.
