Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 36 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Streams continue to drop and clear today.  There is still some runoff going through the area, but the streams with a couple of feet of visibility have been quite good!
The past couple of cold nights and cool days have really nipped the melting in the bud and has given the majority of small to medium sized creeks a chance to clear up and flow stained to crystal clear.  The larger waters are generally stained to murky still.
Hatch activity has backed off as the water temps dipped over the weekend due to snow melt.  They should rebound over the next few days as streams clear and warm up into the mid 40s again.
Fish are eating scuds, leeches, thicker bodied nymphs, and even midge larvae on the clear water.
