Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 49 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
Streams have started to cloud up due to snow melt yesterday. While not disastorous area wide, there are quite a few cloudy and murky waters. Clear streams are difficult to find. Search for clear water in the upper sections and tributary streams.Fishing in the cloudy water is best with leeches and streamers or big scuds and pink squirrels.
On the clear waters, fish will be rising in the afternoon to midges and generic mayfly patterns, and will eat small subsurface bugs as well as scuds.
Today and tomorrow will bring more melting and dirty water. While not impossible to fish, you may have to get a bit more creative with what you fish, as well as timing (10-3 seems to be best) to catch fish.
