Driftless Area

Rating: 2, temperature: 27 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Sunny with a high in the upper 20s.  The bitter wind has subsided which means more comfort on stream.
Despite the horrible cold wind the past few days, fish were still being caught on large nymphs and scuds, as well as midge larvae and leeches.
Water temps are in the high 30s to low 40s and streams are running clear.
Fish are clustered in deeper pools and runs and are taking flies very softly.
Midges and winter stones have been sparse on the surface, but with better weather today and into the weekend, the hatches should resume.
