Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 30 ℉, condition: Thunder Storms.

Icy this morning, but no more precipitation forecasted for today.  Although temps will be cold, no runoff is hitting the streams which means stable water temperature in the high 30s to low 40s.
The hatches (midge and witner stonefly) are back and should start getting thicker this afternoon.  Fishing a small, dark bodied dry or emerger will get fish to eat.
Streams are clear to slightly stained and flowing slightly high.
Subsurface fishing has given us good winter action on heavy tungsten scuds and thick, fuzzy nymphs as well as leeches.
