Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 76 ℉, condition: Cloudy.
Sunny today, but temps are excellent both air and water. Chilly in the mornings and evenings and pleasant during the day. Streams are all in the high 50s to mid 60s.Fish are eating small terrestrials on the surface (ants, beetles, crickets) in the morning, then switching to hoppers and olives mid day. The olives have been coming off sporadically throughout the day, sometimes even as early as 9 a.m.
Fishing is better in the shade than the bright sun.
Subsurface fishing has been good on pink squirrels, heavy tungsten scuds, and olive nymphs.
Streamers have been catching fish again with the water cooling down, and mouse fishing has been a ton of fun lately with lots of hits and some big fish hooked.
