Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 82 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

Very good summer fishing!  The weather is downright pleasant to be fishing in.
Tricos are still around in the mornings, and fish are much more willing to rise with the cooler temps.  After that, there is a brief slow down until the sun warms the ground and the terrestrials start moving around.  Then it is ants, hoppers, crickets, and beetles all day long.  They are even more effective with a small nymph tied on below.
Waters are still low and clear, but temps on most streams are good.  Make sure you use your thermometer!  Mid to high 60s means poor fishing, 70 and above can be lethal to trout.
