Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 82 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Low and clear water with sunny skies today.  Fish early and late and hit shaded areas.  Remember there is shade on a wide open meadow stream this time of the season.  Undercut banks and mats of grass hanging in the water provide enough cover to hold fish.  Toss a hopper nearby or into them and hang on!
Water temps are in the mid 50s in the mornings and mid 60s at their peak.  Anything over 65 will be poor fishing, and anything over 70 will be lethal to trout.  Remember to take your thermometer and use it often!
Tricos are sparse on warmer mornings, but terrestrials are making up for the lack of aquatic hatches.  Tying on a dropper below your terrestrial is a great way to get more fish.
