Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 87 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

Clouds and rain forecasted for this afternoon will bring some much needed precipitation to the area (hopefully!)
Waters are still low and clear, with a handful running at temperatures dangerous to trout.
Others are in the mid 50s in the mornings and mid 60s in the evenings.  These have been great fishing early and late in the day while avoiding the mid day weather.
Terrestrials have been the food throughout the day, with small hoppers, crickets, beetles and ants all doing very well.  The smaller terrestrials fishing better in shady spots underneath trees, and hoppers/crickets better in the meadows.
We are also seeing trico activity on a daily basis in the morning.
Scuds and slim bodied nymphs fished sub surface have also been excellent.
Air temps have been well below what has been predicted ove the past couple of days.  Water temps are not rocketing up and we have had cloud cover all day.  It is possible to fish all day if the clouds stay overhead!
