Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 85 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

Despite a hot mid day sun, fishing has been quite good lately.  It is still best to fish early and late as cooler water temps are key to active fish.
Remember your thermometer.  Temps over 65 mean slower fishing, while temps over 70 can be lethal to trout.
Terrestrials are key right now.  Anything from a tiny ant to a large hopper is catching fish on the surface.  Tying a dropper below a buoyant foam pattern has been excellent, especially if that dropper is something small and slim.
Tricos are doing their thing in the mornings on the coulees, and midges are hatching when the sun is off the water.
