Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 93 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

What a difference today!  The heat spell ended and temps are starting to get back to normal.  Fishing will remain solid for longer with cooler overnight temperatures.  Fish are rising to sporadic midges in the morning.  They will eat terrestrials in the afternoons on top too.  In the evening fish will rise again to a mix of smaller terrestrials and midges.
The trico action has been slowing down recently but a few fish are still eating the spinners in the mornings.
Subsurface fishing has been best on micro bead head nymphs and midge larvae fished in the riffles and runs, and thick bodied scuds deep in the pools.
