Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 92 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

Fishing is good when the temperature feels comfortable.
Fish are a lot like us in that they do not like the hot and sunny weather.  Find shade, fish early and late, and fish smaller streams with cooler water for best success.
Fish are feeding best early in the morning, then again late at night.
Terrestrials are some of the best bugs right now with fish turning on to small hoppers, as well as ants and beetles.
They are also rising to craneflies and smaller, light colored mayflies in the evenings.  We have also seen sporadic caddis hatches and egg laying caddis in the evenings.
Subsurface, fishing micro nymphs with very slim profiles is best, followed by bottom rolling, heavy scuds and small pink squirrels.
