Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 78 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
A recharge from rain a couple days ago, coupled with cooler temperatures (last night dropped to 55) has things going splendidly! Most fish are feeding in the riffles and flats, with a few fish eating in the deeper pools. The best times to fish are still first thing in the morning, then in the late evening. However fish have been coming out of cover mid day to smash small hoppers.
Subsurface action has been strong, fishing a small nymph with a thin profile behind a terrestrial in the riffles have been great.
Fish are rising to midges and olives in the morning, and lighter colored mayflies and craneflies in the evening.
