Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 72 ℉, condition: Flurries.
Cooler weather today and yesterday have fish feeding more consistently all day long. They are eating lots of terrestrials! Ants, beetles, even smaller hoppers and crickets are effective all day. Tying a small bead head dropper below a foam terrestrial is excellent right now.
Hatches are starting to lighten up as the lighter colored mayflies are fading. Midges are getting stronger, and fish are still eating craneflies in the evening too.
Smaller, thin bodied nymphs are best right now sub surface followed closely by scuds.
