Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 78 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.
Hot and sunny today. Make sure you are fishing early and late when the sun is off the water for best success.Waters are low and clear with temps in the mid to high 50s. A handful of streams reaching the 60s. Thermometers are a great tool right now, as anything over 65 means fishing will be slow.
Terrestrials are really taking off with beetles, ants and hoppers all catching fish on the surface. Try using them as an indicator fly and tie a midge larvae dropper down below.
In the evenings we are still seeing some lighter colored mayflies, craneflies, and yellow sallies flying around. Having a few lighter colored bugs to match them is important.
Subsurface bugs have been thin bodied bead heads, and heavy tungsten scud patterns.
