Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 60 ℉, condition: Flurries.

Wow, what a week for great weather.  Things have cooled down quite a bit, with highs in the 50's and 60's the next few days.  That coupled with cloud cover and a chance of drizzle will have fishing even better than it has been.
Look for fish to be rising all day long with the intensity picking up in the evenings.  Yellow sallies, sulphurs, cahills, craneflies and midges are the main hatches.  Small terrestrials have been great all month, and larger ones (hoppers!) have started catching fish as well.
Subsurface fishing has been best on midge larvae and scuds with standard nymphs (pheasant tails, prince nymphs) working too.
Waters are clear and a bit low still.  The clouds over the next few days will make the fish much less spooky!
