Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 73 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

We received less than a half of an inch of rain last night which means waters will be clear area wide still.
Fishing has remained strong with fish feeding early and late (when the sun is off the water) and in shaded areas.  There are lots of fish in the riffles as well as in the deeper runs.
Midges, sulphurs, caddis, craneflies, and some olives are hatching mostly in the evenings.  Surface fishing really picks up around 4 p.m. and lasts until dark.
Subsurface fish are picking up on small scuds, midge larvae, and anything rolled right along the bottom.
Terrestrials (including mice!) are also fishing well throughout the day.  Try sinking an ant in the riffles for some fun fishing!
