Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 70 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Unexpectedly, ants and beetles were the hot flies yesterday!
There were some caddis popping off, and some light colored mayflies in the evening, but fish were responding to smaller terrestrials in the runs.  It may not be a permanent thing, but remember to have a few in your fly box just in case.
Waters are clear and flowing a touch low, but overall streams are in great shape.  Clear and water temps in the mid to high 50s.
Caddis (tan and still some black hanging around), craneflies, terrestrials and leeches have been the foods of choice for trout lately.
