Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 52 ℉, condition: Windy.

Last nights rain only brough about half an inch of rain total.  Not enough to mess up streams, but enough to soak into the ground and recharge some springs!
Fishing has been best in the afternoon and evening lately with fish starting to feed on the surface just after lunch.  In the morning, they are eating caddis pupae, midge larvae, and scuds.
Olives and midges are hatching, and we have seen some of the size 16 orange craneflies on area waters too.
The weather is looking very favorable for another incredible weekend.  We have not yet seen black caddis, but with the amount of cased larvae and pupae on the stream bottom, it could happen any day.
