Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 70 ℉, condition: Partly Cloudy.
Weather has gone back to 'normal' after a very chilly day. It will be windy today, with a south wind gusting pretty hard. Finding some sheltered areas will make it a much better day.We are still seeing olives and midges, and the stream bed is full of black caddis pupae just waiting to hatch. We have had success with black caddis on the surface, but the major hatch has not quite begun.
Sub surface we are still fishing red bodied patterns, caddis pupae, and heavy tungsten bugs drifted slowly in deeper pools.
Leeches and streamers have also been hot lately.
