Driftless Area

Rating: 5, temperature: 75 ℉, condition: Heavy Rain.

I was hesitant to put the fishing report at excellent as I had not fished myself.  The crazy warm weather and water temperatures in the 40s have fish in the best mood for March that I have ever seen them in.
Midges, olives, craneflies, black caddis, tan caddis, stoneflies, Hendricksons...  All are hatching right now.  The best numbers of bugs are in the midges and olives, but with all the activity, fish are looking up.  We caught fish on hoppers and big indicator flies yesterday!
Subsurface, the rocks are crawling with bugs, and fish are taking most everything drifted by them.  Leeches, red bodied nymphs, and slim black bead heads seem to be the best (along with the pink squirrel).
With the cloud cover this week, things should get even better as the bright sun has been the limiting factor lately.
