Driftless Area

Rating: 3, temperature: 37 ℉, condition: Cloudy.

Sunny and chilly today.
The snowmelt has been locked back up into ice overnight meaning streams that were starting to get murky have cleared up significantly.
Fishing will be best as the sun warms the water today, and should be good until the sun starts to set and the water temperatures begin to dip.
Hatches have been more sporadic the past couple of days, but fish are still rising for an hour or two on midges.  Spotty winter stonefly emergences are around, as are a handful of olives, but for the olives we need the warmer weather that the weekend will bring. (Tomorrow is pushing 60 degrees)
Sub surface fishing has been best on midge larvae and other small, thin bodied nymphs, as well as scuds.  Leeches are still very effective too.
