Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 41 ℉, condition: Partly Cloudy.
The only thing that will screw up fishing today will be a wind from the west.Otherwise, we had not real rain (measured 0.04 inches at the airport last night) and things froze last night locking up any runoff. Streams range from crystal clear to slightly murky and all are running in the high 30s to low 40s.
Fish are rising to midges and winter sonteflies, with more olives showing up each day.
Subsurface fishing has been best on scuds and thick bodied nymphs (think hare's ear and prince nymph) and especially midge larvae.
