Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 78 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

A light soaking rain last night was not enough to blow any stream out.  Water is still clear and flowing well.  Water temps are in the mid 50s to mid 60s with only a handful of streams at 70 degrees.  Remember to use your thermometer and if a stream is warmer than 65 degrees fishing will be poor and you have a chance of stressing trout.
Olives and tricos are hatching, and fish are feeding on them (as well as midges) in the riffles and runs early in the morning and late at night.  Mid day, hoppers and crickets as well as other small terrestrials are being eaten on top, especialy in shaded areas and near lunker structures.
