Driftless Area
Rating: 5, temperature: 74 ℉, condition: Dust.
Cool, cloudy, and scattered showers all day long. This is incredible summer weather! Look for hatches of olives all day long and fish feeding on the surface as long as the clouds stick around. Fish will be in the riffles and runs throughout the day.Water is clear and cool with stream temperatures running in the mid to high 50s.
Outside of olives and tricos, fish have been eating slim profile caddis skated across riffles, and midges in the morning and evening. Terrestrials will still be important, even in the drizzly weather, as they are a big meal that is hard to pass by.
Subsurface fishing scuds, tiny bead head midge larvae, and some smaller thick bodied nymphs is working very well.
