Driftless Area
Rating: 4, temperature: 82 ℉, condition: Flurries.
Cooler temperatures have fish very content lately. Fish were rising this morning in the riffles, runs, and even a few in the tail outs of deep pools. Water temperatures are in the high 50s to mid 60s and streams are running clear.Tricos are on the Timber Coulee with clouds of flies being reported in the mornings that are not too foggy. Midges are also hatching early morning and late evening. In the middle part of the day a terrestrial (hopper, cricket, beetle, ant) with a small bead head nymph or scud as a dropper is deadly. This hopper/dropper combo can be great first thing in the morning too.
Excellent summer weather with highs in the high 70s to 80 for the next few days means comfortable fishing and extremely happy fish.
