Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 83 ℉, condition: Flurries.
The sun and hot weather are returning to the Driftless Area. The water is starting to clear up from it's light tea stain from two days ago. This time of year most valleys are having fog in them, keeping the water a touch cooler and hiding from the morning sun. Be on the water by 5:30 am you might see Tricos start hatching, the hatch will hatch will last up to a hour. It is a fun hatch to be on when the fog is clearing and no one is around except you and Mother Nature. Size 16 ants and beetles are working well. If you want to try something new, skate a Elk Hair Caddis, size 14 down stream and across. You might giggle like a little kid when you see these trout eat your fly and nothing else is working. Get out and fish!
