Driftless Area

Rating: 4, temperature: 85 ℉, condition: Light Flurries.

Fishing is great, with an exception.  The early morning and late evening fishing has been outstanding with fish rising to midges, and taking flush riding surface patterns in smaller sizes.  Mid day fishing has been a bit slower, but fish are being caught on hopper dropper in the meadows, and on scuds and midge larvae in shaded areas.
The rule of thumb is to fish the first four and last four hours of the day and take a break mid day to rest and rehydrate.
Water is clear area wide (with only a stain on some of the larger waters) and temps are in the mid 50s to mid 60s.  Some of the larger streams are warming up during the day, but fishing first thing in the morning can still yield fish.
