Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 98 ℉, condition: Partly Cloudy.
Fishing is good, despite unseasonably hot weather. If you are out fishing today, remember to take it easy and bring extra water, heat index is above 100 for today.Just avoid mid day and both you and the trout will be much happier and more comfortable. The hot weather starts to leave the area tomorrow and we will be back to the 60s by Thursday.
Fish are feeding on midges on the surface in the morning, then quickly switching to sub surface food after first light. Mid day, if you can find some shade, you will find fish eating sub surface and even some that will come up and eat a hopper or ant.
In the late afternoon and evening we are seeing hatches of cahills, sulphurs, caddis, craneflies, and there are also yellow sallies flying around now.
