The large thunderstorms completely missed Viroqua last night. We only had a brief rain. Streams nearby will be clear to slightly stained, and there is only a forecast for some light showers on and off today. Water is in perfect condition and the air and water temperatures are just about perfect right now.Fish are eating caddis and craneflies on the surface, and we have even seen some sulphurs and cahills start to hatch in the evenings.
Subsurface, thin bodied mayfly nymphs and midge larvae are working well, as are scuds.
Do not overlook ants and beetles when fish are looking up. They can solve a very frustrating feeding fish right now!
