Driftless Area
Rating: 3, temperature: 45 ℉, condition: Dust.
Fishing has been quite good, and after some showers today and into tonight (not forecasted to see anything that will blow out the streams) the weather turns quite nice over the weekend.Water temperature are still hovering in the high 40s on most area streams. Not quite warm enough to see many caddis, but just warm enough to see midges and mayflies hatching. The best fishing is in the late afternoon when water temperatures are the warmest.
On top, midges have been deadly as they seem to be everywhere again this spring.
Subsurface scuds, prince nymphs, and midge larvae/pupae are catching fish, as are leeches and streamers.
