Much nicer day today. Party sunny weather which should bring out the caddis again. Over the past couple of blustery and cloudy (and snowy!) days the midges and olives were still being eaten in pockets of water that were out of the wind. Not as windy today, as the winds will start to mellow out a bit around mid day. Winds are still blowing from the Northeast.
Expect today to start out a bit slow as water temperatures have dropped by a few degrees area wide (45 on average). Fishing late morning and into the evening after the sun has warmed the water up will be ideal.
Subsurface caddis larvae, scuds, and tiny bead head nymphs with a midge or caddis emerger tied behind it are working very well.
When the hatches come off a black caddis dry, or a generic mayfly will work. Also make sure you have some black midges as fish are still feeding selectively to them in some areas.
